I plan to change the stigma on mental illness by changing the narrative that surrounds it. If people could just realize that disabilities do not mean in capabilities, but simply special abilities. There is still a barbaric outlook on mental illness and how it should be treated. I also would like to advocate for better medical treatment for those in need. Major pharmaceutical drive the cost of prescription pills high making it virtually impossible for those in need to purchase them. I also want to urge medical doctors to stop generalizing their practices and using their patients as lab rats.By lab rats I mean stopping them from prescribing medication arbitrarily without fully understanding their patient.
I agree with you and my brother is going through it with his illness. All they want to do is test him and try new drugs on him to see if it works. They do not care about how the drug is affecting people and will put it on the market so quick and this is why there are so many lawsuits.
ReplyDeleteTake a stand and make a difference. By you advocating for what you believe is right will bring change to the surrounding populations. The cost of medicine is unbearable, if you could impact in a way to bring change, I would love to help!
ReplyDeleteMakes perfect sense! this kind of reminds me of kids in school who have trouble paying attention. Most school professionals and therapists like to automatically diagnose with ADD or ADHD without fully knowing the child or their situation. Once the child is diagnosed they just throw pills at them. Without proper monitoring and intervention this becomes a band aid fix.
